John Deere Des Moines Works employees rarely have to search for a parking space on cold, wintry mornings – that is, if they drive an electric vehicle.
Des Moines Works, in Ankeny, Iowa, is the first John Deere unit in North America to offer employees an electric-vehicle (EV) charging station. Located close to the employee entrance, the charging station has been so well received, additional parking spaces are being converted to EV parking.
In Germany, employees are encouraged to utilize an electric company vehicle fleet to travel between John Deere Mannheim Works and the European Technology Innovation Center in Kaiserslautern.
The charging stations provide a cost savings benefit to employees and encourage the use of vehicles powered by sustainable energy sources. This, in turn, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to the environment.
